As Labor Day approaches, so does the end of the season for many concession stands. The good news is that there’s still time to boost your food and beverage sales before summer events wind down.

End your season strong when you use the following tips to create both interest in your concession business and loyalty with your customers.

1. Signature Flavors

Creating signature flavors for items like shave ice or gourmet popcorn gives your patrons an experience that they can’t find anywhere else. Unique, creative flavors can attract customers to your concession stand and keep them coming back for more. Make sure you also promote your custom flavors so that the word gets out.

2. Special Offers

Don’t underestimate the power of special offers. Keep in mind that the best deals mean little expense for you and high perceived value by your customers.

For example, if you have a Sno-Kone® machine, you can host a free Sno-Kone® day for customers who purchase $5.00 or more in concessions. A 20-cent expense can yield a large return.

Special offers can be a profitable strategy for your concession business by providing value to your customers while increasing your overall sales.

3. Free Samples

During slow times, test giving away free samples of your best-selling flavors and new flavors and see what gets the best results for your particular customer base. Track the success of your strategy by including a coupon so that later you can review how many purchases were made because of the free samples.

As the end of summer approaches and foot traffic may slow down, offering free samples can be an effective tactic for bringing more customers to your concession stand.
