Pretzel Topping and Dip Ideas

Pretzel Toppings and Dips Your Customers Will Love

If you already own or run a concession stand and aren’t selling hot pretzels yet, consider adding them to your menu for an easy sale, especially in cooler months. Assuming you already have a freezer, you would only need to invest in a warming cabinet (or go with ready-to-serve Meister Bake® pretzels).

Hot pretzels can bring you a profit margin of 60-70%! When you add toppings and dips you have an opportunity to increase your price point because of the perceived added value. Having even a minimal variety of options will give your customers a reason to buy – whether it’s to satisfy their sweet vs salty craving or to simply try a new flavor. Here are some topping and dip ideas for the next time you serve soft pretzels.

Pretzel Toppings

A layer of thick salt granules is a classic topping for pretzels that provides the savory flavor we all love, complemented by that signature crunch. However, it's not just salt that pairs well with soft pretzels. A variety of toppings can create unique, delicious pretzels that bring customers to your food stand. Explore these simple suggestions.

  • Signature Shakes: Easy to add to your regular popped corn, it only takes a quick shake to turn simple into savory with the variety of Gold Medal shake-on flavors.
  • Cinnamon and Sugar: Just spray a mist of butter on the pretzels first, then sprinkle with a pre-made mix of cinnamon and sugar.
  • Melted Chocolate: Use a ladle to drizzle it over the pretzels (try it on both salted and unsalted to see which your customers prefer).
  • Cheese: Use grated cheese to sprinkle on top when the pretzels are warm.
  • Cheese and Pepperoni: Is it a pizza pretzel or a pretzel pizza? We call it a crowd-pleaser.
  • Also! Cheese and Jalapenos, Cheese and Bacon, Cheese and just about anything that sounds delicious!

Pretzel Dips

These dips pair perfectly with pretzels and add variety to your menu. They take a little more pre-work to create than the topping ideas, unless you buy them ready-to-serve. But when you’re able to charge 50 to 75 cents for a container, they could prove worth the effort.

  • Mustard: Probably one of the easiest options, since if you’re selling hot dogs you’ll already have this in stock.
  • Italian Honey-Mustard: This is a mix of Italian dressing, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and honey.
  • Ruby Red: This fruity dip consists of cranberry sauce, sugar, ginger, mustard, cinnamon, and pepper.
  • Cilantro Pesto: A combination of garlic, cilantro, olive oil, sesame oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Horseradish Mix: Cream cheese, milk, horseradish (remember that a little of this goes a long way), salt, pepper, and celery.
  • Spinach Artichoke: A popular bread dip at parties, it’s natural to offer it with hot pretzels. Mix creamed spinach, marinated artichoke hearts, shredded cheddar, and lemon juice.
